COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (August 19, 2015) — Rick Wey, a 21-year associate at Averitt Express and Brentwood resident, was recently promoted to director of weight and inspection for the global logistics and transportation provider.

As part of his new role, Wey will work closely with each of Averitt’s service centers to ensure that freight is being categorized at the correct weight and classification.

“Rick has proven himself to be exceptionally capable and dependable since the inception of our weight and research program,” vice president of operations Richard King said. “He has also demonstrated strong leadership skills that will help him serve our customers well.”

Wey is a member of Averitt’s exclusive Over 20 Team, which includes more than 800 active associates who have been with Averitt for at least 20 years.

He began his Averitt career in 1994, helping to create Averitt’s weight and research program. That program - which began with one floor scale and two forklift scales at the Nashville service center - has expanded to more than 400 forklift scales, with at least one in each of Averitt’s more than 100 service centers. Most recently, Wey served as Averitt’s weight and research manager.
