COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (August 30, 2016) — In an effort to help the thousands of shippers across the U.S. that have been affected by recent events surrounding Hanjin Shipping, Averitt Express has launched a nationwide shipment rescue service.

“This has been a difficult situation for all who are impacted,” says Averitt’s Vice President of International Solutions Charlie McGee. “We are working to help shippers retrieve their stranded cargo so that they can get their businesses back on the right track.”

Utilizing its assets and coordinating with other carriers, the global supply chain solutions provider is aiding shippers by retrieving cargo from Hanjin containers that have become stranded at ports. In addition, Averitt is assisting shippers by moving rescued cargo by road, rail and air to final destinations throughout the country.

“This is a particularly volatile time of the year for businesses and the situation with Hanjin has been devastating for so many,” McGee says. “I believe it’s our industry’s responsibility to step up and reach out during this time to help alleviate the pressure that has been created.”
