COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (May 26, 2016) — Averitt Express has recently strengthened its ability to provide customers with less than container load (LCL) service from China with two new weekly departures.

Expanding on the company’s Asia-Memphis Express, which utilizes a unique combination of ocean and rail service to cut processing times by as much as 10 days, Averitt has introduced weekly LCL departures from the Port of Yantian in the Guangdong Province.

“This region in South China is known as the ‘Factory of the World,’” said Charlie McGee, Averitt’s vice president of international solutions. “It’s exciting to be able to provide our customers with a reliable weekly service from this area because it increases the efficiency of their supply chain and ability to move products to market through the ports of Los Angeles (POLA) and Long Beach (POLB) directly to the Southeast quicker.”

In addition to the new weekly service from South China, Averitt has also introduced a Shanghai-Charleston economy service. This weekly direct LCL service to one of the company’s International Distribution Centers - a Bonded Container Freight Station - near the Port of Charleston puts cargo directly into Averitt’s network of 140+ distribution centers throughout the U.S.

“This new solution can be very beneficial to customers in the Southeast and Middle Atlantic that are looking to save time and money,” said McGee. “Unlike other shipping options from China to the region, this service travels through the Panama Canal and bypasses the Northeast port relay that is utilized by most LCL providers servicing the markets in the Southeast and Middle Atlantic. This allows us to get shipments straight to the customer in much less time with fewer handlings.”

Averitt provides door-to-door international ocean and air services to and from more than 100 countries. It also provides port logistics and inland distribution services for both importing and exporting.
