Are you looking to balance supply chain costs with transit times? Your answer might be Intermodal TOFC, or Trailer on Flat Car service, from the West Coast.
With a majority of international shipments going through the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, California, moving freight across the entire country to destinations throughout the South by traditional over-the-road (OTR) trucking may not be the most cost-effective solution.
In many cases, our Eastbound Trailer on Flat Car Service provides customers with capacity and cost savings that they won't find with other transportation options.
How It Works:
In California, we can dray freight from the ports to our local facility where associates can prepare goods for delivery (packaging, palletizing, etc.) and then load them inside a standard 53' Averitt trailer. The trailer is then put on rail for direct delivery to Memphis. Once the TOFC has arrived in Tennessee, our professional drivers can quickly deliver or distribute shipments to any destinations throughout the South.
- Avoid waiting lists - Eastbound railroads give priority to TOFC over container shipments
- Cost-Efficiency - Intermodal options can often save customers hundreds of dollars in transit costs
- Competitive Transit Times - On average, Eastbound TOFC has only a one-day transit difference compared to OTR.
